Can from the LCBO. Black pour, large mocha head. Intense dark coffee note, with a lively sweet maltiness, and some subtle fruit. Mouth feel and carb are great. Finish is medium bitter, soft vanilla and cocoa sweetness. A sweet Vietnamese coffee

Sam James Coffee Bar version that pours a dark brown colour with copper-ruby highlights. The head is huge, creamyish, with good retention and thick creamy lacing left. Lots of molasses, plums, dates at first in the nose, with the coffee eventually coming out. The roasted coffee grains shine at this point over the mild roasted malts, hints of dark fruits. The mouthfeel is silky, smooth, not the thickest, nor the driest. The coffee is milder in the taste, blending with the burnt barley and some light grassy-hops lingering in the finish. It gets a touch dryer near the end. Not a bad coffee stout, but nothing exceptional.

tons of green pepper coffee and coffee notes. Not too acidic but the depth is great.

pours dark brown, smooth light brown head. milky note to the aroma, also roasted grainy notes (bit like guinness perhaps) the faint tartness or sourness note you sometimes find in beers with coffee, faint roasted malts, faint nutty notes, faint filter coffee. Flavor is roasted malty, sweet roasted malty, good coffe in the aftertaste, lots of taste but a bit watery and lacking alc. bite compared to heavier stouts and imperial stouts, but as it is, as a 5% stout, the flavor is complex and full. In a way it reminds me of guinness, but it's somewhat more flavorfull than guinness. Good beer, good drinkability, nice sweetness that is clearly there but not too much.

473 ml can. Pours a dark brown with full tan head. Aromas of coffee in a plastic cup, a bit of milk chocolate and soft roasted malts. Flavors of sugary, acidic coffee without much malty balance.

Medium brown, a bit murky, lots of coffee on the nose but kind of tart as well. Light toast, fairly acidic and slightly nutty. Too thin for my taste.

Celebrating the start of a three-day weekend with: Bellwoods A Stout with Coffee 5% feat. Sam Jakes Coffee Bar Cola black with a thick fluffy tan head of foam and huge coffee aroma. Fairly full bodied with a smooth mouthfeel. The taste is fruity coffee but the malts provide some balancing sweetness, there’s no lactose so it’s a well balanced example of a coffee beer.

This stout poured a deep black colour with a creamy, brown head. Nice lacing. Scents include coffee, cocoa, nuts and a little smoke. First swig was smooth, creamy and roasted. Flavours of iced coffee, cocoa and burnt toast. Slightly sweet finish, with flavours of coffee lingering.

Poured from the tap. Very dark brown with small beige head. Very coffee forward, roast, thinner-medium body. Very good for the abv.
