15/6/2024. Can bought direct from the brewery. Shared at Malilla GP. Three Hills rating #100. Pours very dark brown with a small bubbly beige head. Aroma is chocolate, roasted malt, plum, wood, port, earthy boozy notes. Medium sweetness, moderate boozy bitterness. Full bodied, very smooth, soft carbonation. Very nice.

22nd November 2022 Can. Near opaque dark brown beer, with a decent bubbly paleish tan head. Some off boozy niffs quickly disapates as the beer breathes. Airy palate, mildy dry, decent fine carbonation. Fairly mellow dark malts, a little dark chocolate and cream plays second fiddle to a fairly savoury barrelling that brings plenty of Tawny Port but surprisingly, precious little Tawny Port sweetness. Rich ripe fruits on the back end, especially dates. Trace of coffee on the last gasp. Not what I was expecting but a very nice barrel aged brew indeed.

330 ml bottle. Pours a reddish black with little head. Aromas of chocolate nougat, sweet dark fruit, honey, and slick roasted malts. Rich, sweet flavors follow same, though not getting much of the port barrel. Maybe it’s contributing to the sweetness…

Can at home, from HOTM online, 21/05/22. Black with a tan cap that veers edgewards. Nose is dark malts, brown sugar melt, port barrel, chocolate, dried fruits, tobacco, spice, toffee fudge. Taste comprises sweet malts, fruit cake mix, chocolate, subtle barrel, light spice, alcohol, dates, chocolate. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced kiss of alcohol. Top stuff ... one of the best I've had from this series (if not the) ... never sweet ... good balance and subtle port barrel.
