Cask at the Bootlegger, High Wycombe. Deep amber. Sweet bready taste with light banana. Mild spice and a generic fruitiness but mainly sweet and bready and rather dull. I’m normally a big fan of XT but this brew’s really not doing it for me.

Gravity dispense at Ealing BF, 06/07/16. Very light haze on a golden copper pour with a well appointed off white head. Nose is caramel, light yeast esters, pinch of spice, straw, orange peel, bread dough. Taste comprises candied fruit peel, bready, more Belgian yeast strokes, orange peel, lemon rind, light herbal spice. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Decent enough offering, ticks the style boxes for me.

Cask at the Bell, Waltham St Lawrence "Served Cloudy" A cloudy amber pour with a ring of white head; floral aroma with a trace of Belgian yeast; sweet taste with some apricot and honey, orange sherbert and lime zest; then a dry finish with some caramel and a touch of citrus. Well balanced and refined with well hidden alcohol.

Cask gravity at Firkin Alehouse Folkestone. Hazy amber brown colour lasting cream head. Doesnt have a Belgian yeast as i was expecting . Some ginger flavour. Quite hoppy. Not sure. Bit unrefined.

Cask-conditioned at the Gryphon, Bristol 4/3/2016. Slightly hazy gold, with a decent, white, head. Belgian yeastiness, ripe stone fruits, fruits, biscuity malts, some leafy hops and a boozy finish. Good.

Cask gravity at XT Brewery, Thursday 3rd March 2016 Pours amber with a white head, sticky, lacy head. A touch of banana on the nose, a little sweet, the yeast is dominant here, doesn’t taste anything like 6%. This is fine, indeed listening to others around me this will be a very popular beer, however for me it’s a little too sweet, some biscuity flavours but the hops (and Russ’ was chatting to us told us there were lots in here) lost out to the bullying yeast in the flavour department.
