Homage to Character Rouge; barrel aged sour.

This sour beer is absolutely packed full of delicious raspberry, cranberry and sour cherry flavours that are deftly combined with the immense tartness of the beer.

Growler at RBSG thanks to Ferris. Pours a dark amber with small beige head leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is strong cherry skin, raspberry, oak. Thin body, nice tartness, light acidity, intense cherry and berry, really enjoyed this.

Had this at Farmhouse Fest. Dark purplish brown. Deep oaky, with a big fruity cherry. Delicious, oaky, deep cherry...big, deep and complex. I didn’t have this when it came out last fall, but it’s a hell of a beer now.

Draught at Callister, Vancouver
Dark purple color with small pink head. Nice aroma of elderberry juice, and cherry; sour. Good body strength; aggressive acidity, lemon juice, and evident unrestrained raspberry juice. Some lemony astringency in the final, sour blueberries. I was told that it fermented in whiskey cask, and I can’t feel that.

Precise, clean fruit Sour beer; not complex, but also very fruity, and without the flaws that plague most American sours (acetone, acetic acid, pedio...). If this were brewed by any famous American sour brewery, it would get mad reviews.

Update - one year on and this has hit its stride. Much less acidity and better balance with the fruit. Draft - Intense cherry and raspberry. Deep purple and a small white head. Tons of cherry and raspberry with a crazy jarring tartness. Outside of the extreme tart notes, very nice.

On tap at Callister, pours a deep dark mahogany with a small off-white head. Aroma is loaded with tart cherries and raspberries, with subtle wild yeast and a touch of balsamic. Flavour is huge on the tart fruit, with puckering red berries dominating, with mild acidity and some balsamic. The sourness is overwhelming, almost too much to remain elegant. Finishes puckeringly sour and bone dry. It's certainly nice but sacrifices complexity for overwhelming sourness.

On tap at Callister with Ash. Pours an opaque cherry compot color with a weak rose head. Aroma is medium sweet with cherry and raspberry notes. Taste is very dry and sour with no sweetness at all with cherry, raspberry and even some chocolate notes. Very dry and sour aftertaste. I would prefer it to have any residual sweetness, but it is veeery good anyways.
