A rare ale that's specially brewed to bring out your inner self. Or reveal the side of you that doesn't get out much. Or release the part of you that would never show up at the office.
Eccentric Ale is only available at the Eccentric Cafe and Bell's General Store on Eccentric Day. Eccentric Ale is released a year after the bottle vintage date (i.e. Eccentric Ale 2018 was released in 2019)
Admin Note: This is the catch-all entry for Bell's Eccentric Ale. If you know the specific vintage you had go ahead and rate under the specific vintage as the ingredients are different each year.

Bottle split at Madmitch76 20K tasting, thanks to Kenny, 15/01/16. Dark mahogany brown with little in the way of a head. Nose is chocolate, spice, Cinabon loaf, light wood and herbals. Taste comprises light spice, sprucey wood, chocolate cinnamon brownie, light soy, root ginger, chocolate orange. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Decent for style and this 2008 vintage has aged well.

Bottle thanks to Ken, shared at his very own 20K tasting. This particular bottle dates back to 2008. It pours near black with a small off-white head. The nose is umami, meaty, cinnamon, twig, wood, grassy, Worcestershire sauce crisps, earth and some oxidised notes. The taste is bitter - sweet, liquorice, oily, pretty spicy, cinnamon, slick alcohol, molasses and tangy dark fruits. Medium body and fine carbonation. Interesting for a taster, but not sure how much of this I would/could drink.

Bottle at Madmitch 20k tasting. Dark brown beer lasting tan head. Cinnamon and spice aroma. Worcester sauce. Quite sweet and tasty though. Good I thought.

12 oz bottle Willrunforbeer got in a trade. This is a 2012 vintage. The aroma is very nice, spiced yams, molasses/maple syrup, cinnamon and nutmeg.
The body is medium with a sticky syrup texture, heavily spice and a near match of the aroma. Slightly off note in the finish. I think this should have been consumed much sooner. Not one to age, maybe the "off" flavor is oxidation setting in. But for me it wasn’t bad just overly spiced.

12 oz. bottle, sent from northernbrews (thanks a lot, Jeff), pours near-black with an amber tinge and a small tan head. Aroma is fairly exotically spiced, with mystery spices, some caramel malt and lots of syrup, maybe a bit of molasses too. Flavour is deep and rich, with loads of the various syrup coming through, and lots of the spices coming through which are surprisingly really well incorporated. Finishes lightly spicy and maple syrupy, cloys quite a bit. I'm usually not at all a fan of spiced beers, but this works fairly well as a spicy, big heavy black beer of some kind. Quite enjoyable.

Draft at the source, listed as 12%. Murky black, scant edge head. Aroma of salty chocolate, squid ink. Taste has licorice, sweet potatos and various tuberous vegetables. Unusual to say the least.

Malzig-süßer Geruch, klebrig, karamellig, etwas alkoholisch. Sehr karamelliger und eigener merkwürdiger Antrunk, unpassend, melonig-süß, etwas brennend. Mehrere Aromen funken hier unpassend zueinander gleichzeitig, sehr süß, zum Ende bodenständiger werdend. Mir ZU eigen! Vielen Dank an den Doppelbock! /8//4/8/10/7

12oz Bottle 2008 vintage thanks to ditmier. Pours out a dark amber topped with a sand head. Aroma was spice, molasses, brown sugar, toffee, light coffee, and some pit fruit. Taste was much more of the sweetness along with a nice spice mix.

Sampled the 2008 version at the 2010 GTMW. Poured black with a yellow brown head that lasted throughout the beer. Aroma had lots of roasted malts and dark grains with a bit of underlying sweet spice. Flavor was sweet with a bit of caramel then growing roasted malts and dark grains with a bit of chocolate and spice.
