Bottle at Zero, Kos. Roasty and oaky with burnt malt, some liquorice and more notes of wood. Picking up hints of dried fruit, liquorice root, molasses. Sweet and thick, full bodied with some stickiness. Bit heavy on the liquourice but well-bodied.

Sample (thanks omhper!). Pitch black colour with a small brown head. Aroma is toffee, some floral tones with mild liquorice to it. Flavour is liquorice, alcohol, some spices, chocolate and mild syrupy tones. Super sweet, but still quite nice.

--Bottled, from Die Bierothek! -- Black, dense beige head - looks lovely. Huge oak aroma with chocolate behind. Mid sweet with medium to full body and well rounded mouthfeel. Oak and sawdust, licorice and dark chocolate. Peppery mid bitter finish. Classy and elegant.

330ml bottle. Jet black colour with huge, thick, creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, dark beige head. Woody, minimally funky, roasty dark malty aroma, notes of oak, toasted nuts, some dark chocolate, a minimally ashy, smoky touch, some resin, cedar wood, Retsina, whiffs of liquorice root. Taste is resinous, woody and roasty, dark malty, notes of dark chocolate, dark caramel, oak, resin, hints of Retsina, a minimally tannic touch, some liquorice root, cedar wood, some roasty and hoppy bitterness, well hidden alcohol though a minimally warming effect can't be denied; lingering, sticky, oaky, resinous finish. Oily to viscous texture, smooth and soft, quite cloying palate, fine and soft carbonation. Quite resinous and woody, not really easy drinkable but a teasing sipper you can't stop to empty like a bag of crisps - very fine.

Bottle: As black as ink, small tanned head, moderate to solid sweet aroma of dried fruits, dark malt and toasted malt; nearly solid sweet and astonishingly moderate bitter flavour, full bodied, as expected; caramelly traces in the sweet-bitter and toasty-fruity finish. Good...
