650ml bottle. Barely clear, brown-ish, dark amber colour with small to average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, beige head. Sweet-ish, malty aroma, notes of toffee, caramel, malt lozenge, a touch of nougat and milk chococlate. Taste is sweet-ish malty, minimally dry notes of malt lozenge, sweeter notes of caramel, hints of toffee, nougat, minimally earthy-grassy, hoppy counterpart with hints of mint; bitter hoppy finish. Well balanced, drinkable - nice.

Deep hazy brown coloured body with a tint of toffee and caramel and a thin, single centimetre tall off-white head. Aroma of toasted malt, pitted fruits, some pungent malt and a lot of sweet caramelised sugar scents throughout and a touch of meat and bacon noticeable at the end. Medium-bodied; Assertive malt and earth flavour at first with a large dose of caramel, funk, toasted malt, grain, alcohol, apples/pear fruitiness and ending with an almost meaty and mushroomy flavour. Aftertaste shows a lot of robust flavours with the toffee and earth the strongest, but also showing some sweetness from the caramel and a rather large bitterness from both the toasted malt and the light hops. Overall, a decent beer that shows some funky flavours for some parts, but a relatively standard beer for the style throughout with a lot of pungency and depth. Nice to try, and worth trying, especially if you like the style. I sampled this stubby twelve ounce bottle purchased from Liqour Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 22-July-2016 for US$2,29 sampled at home in Washington on 21-April-2017.

hazy brown colour with reddish notes and half inch creamy beige-is head; aroma of caramel, soy sauce, hints of vanilla, dried fruits, raisin and floral notes; taste of syrupy sweetness with dried fruits, mild roasted rye bread, soy sauce notes and spicy alcohol; good beer, though would be much better if this syrupy maltines was more balanced by hops

Pours a dark brown with red notes, thin off-white head, quickly dissipating. Aroma of molasses, and bread. Flavor is a little more pumpernickel-y, rather sweet and syrupy. Good beer.

12 oz. bottle. Dark amber body with slight head. Nose is nuts, toasted grain, molasses, figs.

Flavor also malts, caramel, some dark fruit hints. Some dark bread note, decent yeast backbone. Bitter in the finish. But quite sweet but not sugary. It does show a mild bitterness. More balanced then I was guessing. This is actually rather good.

That’ll be me 20K then @ ChrisO’s. Bit drunk now. Thanks to Fan1Jan. Hazy amber beer, good cream colour head. Palatye is light, dry and a little crispy. Good rich creamy malts sweetness, but also a touch of lactose like sweetness. Dried fruits. Light semi dry finish. Okay.

Bottled 01/18/2016.
This was poured into a pilsener glass.
The appearance was a ruddy brown color with a slim finger-ed white foamy head that dissipated at a nice pace. Messy semi-sticky lacing glossed all around the glass nicely.
The smell took in the bready/biscuit malts running through a light semi-spicy rye sliding in for a nice balance. Toffee and caramel malts follow through as well for a nice accompaniment.
The taste was bready sweet and then a spicy rye follows in delicately to balance nicely. Rye hits a bit more in the aftertaste. Semi-dry finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation feels good.
Overall, I’d say this was a pretty good doppelbock that I would have again.
