Pours bright mahogany into a stem glass. Off-white micro head with excellent retention recedes leaving scant sheets. Dark dried fruit and caramel aromas. Soft with sweet caramel and toffee upfront turning warming in the lasting roasted nutty and mildly cloying bitter finish.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Oak Tree, Groton, 9/29/13
Aroma: The aroma is heavy malty, with lots of caramel, toffee, molasses, and some bready notes
Appearance: It pours a clearish mahogany color with a fizzy beige head and light lace
Flavor: The flavor is heavy malty, leans pretty sweet, with a thick, molasses finish
Palate: The body is medium-full, it has a thick, and chewy mouthfeel, and a sticky finish
Overall Impression: Interesting stuff that tastes well-enough made, but just doesn't have the needed balance. It's all sweetness, and feel pretty thick, though it doesn't feel that heavy. If you'll follow me on a food analogy here: I like all the ingredients pretty well, but I don't necessarily love how the dish came out. Still, a nice effort.
