Rocky tan head on a dark brown still body. Smoked, medicinal & malt aroma. Medium bodied, smooth on the tongue thinning out to a limp back. Malt & smokey tastes quickly subside to leave white wine, sour & pithy tastes. Something wrong here surely - All mixed up.

Black beer, thin beige head that soon thins out. Malty aroma with a hefty smokey sweetness to it. Taste follows suit, smokey-sweet up front, toasty malt, a bit of chocolate. It's smooth and feels rich initially but there's a slightly disappointing watery quality. It's decent but I'd have liked it a little richer and for the flavour to follow through a bit more fully.

Cask at ORB, Darlington. Black colour, tan foam head and aroma of roasty malt, smokey, coffee & chocolate. Taste is sweetish, malty, roasted, smoked with caramel, lactose, dark chocolate & coffee, and ashy bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel, medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi-dry roasty smokey bitter finish. Nicely drinkable

Cask @ Fox & Goose, Hebden Bridge. Black with a thin creamy off-white head. Potent in its mix of sweetened dark and roasted malts. Fairly smooth in its texture, it’s a little more stated in its roasted variety in taste, with a lingering aftertaste.
