Gorgeous clear red coloured brew with a firm and steady head of foam with great lacing.

Biggest nose of bitter pine that I can recall having. .maybe ever. No malt.

A smidgen of caramel malt sweet is first but it is quickly overwhelmed by this HUGE pine bitterness that I find too much for my palate to handle. Horizon hops are mentioned on the label. Perhaps I should avoid beers using them in the future?

Medium body with medium carbonation.

I was hoping that the hops used would be to my liking but they are not. No revisits planned.

Bottle @ home picked up at Supermarket Foco in a mixer sixer. Pours a dull orangish brown appearance with a light tan head. Pine, herbs, leaves, grass, and a hint of citrus in the nose. Medium full body. The flavor is bitter piney hops and caramel with a little soap. Ehhh, ok.

12oz bottle pours with a clear coppery amber body that supports a tan head of foam. The aroma offers up some roasted malts and pine hops that are playing well together with a thin ribbon of earthy sort of hoppiness in the background. The taste delivers a pleasing pine hoppiness that’s modestly bitter and resiny and is smoothly integrated with slivers of earthy and citrus hoppiness. Behind the hops murmurs malts and roasted malts and crystal malts. This is working out well. I like the firm hops and malty blend.

12oz bottle picked up at Supermarket Liquor
Pours clear gold/brown with a medium sized beige head, good lacing. Aroma of pine, caramel and toasted malts. Flavors of caramel, floral and piney
Ok but I wouldn’t seek this one out. Seems more of a hoppy pale ale.

Bottle from Total Wine in Folsom, CA. Pours bright copper with a beige head. Aroma is quite resin. Med + body, at least. Flavor is somewhat roasty malt with a lot of resin. Gets some earthiness in the finish. Strong flavors, bitter finish. Good stuff.

On draught at Winking Lizard. The beer is a brownish-amber color with a medium creamy light beige head that dissipates gradually. Sticky small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of grainy malt, fruit and hops. Medium body with flavors of overripe fruit, stale malt and grassy hops. The finish is mildly bitter with a short piney hops aftertaste. Barely average overall.
