Sample courtesy of Grumbo, cheers Graham! Dark brown-black colour with reddish tinge, beige foam head and aroma of malt, molasses, chocolate, booze. Taste is sweet malty, caramel, molasses, liquoice, dried fruits, with roasty and earthy bitterness. Oily mouthfeel, full bodied, soft carnonation, dry waem boozy finish. Very drinkable.

11/7/2019. Bottle from Honest Brew. 10.0%. Pours black with a beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, dark fruits, toffee, liquorice, rich molasses and light bourbon. Medium sweetness and moderate roasted bitterness. Full bodied, smooth oil slick texture, soft carbonation. Very good, the best and probably, sadly, the last I’ll ever have from this brewery.

Bottle @ Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Nice head with good duration. Color is dark brown. Aroma and taste are rich roast malt, chocolate, licorice, coffee and hops. Nice long bitter finish. Oily palate.

Bottle @ Cotteridge Wines. Black with a dark brown head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malt and chocolate. Flavor is quite sweet and rather bitter. Dry and rather bitter finish with warming alcohol. 270717

Bottle from Drunk Dry, Kidlington, Oxon, Sunday 5th February 2017 whilst cooking at Ragu and making hone made pasta. This is a 10.6% version. Looks great, pitch black, shark eye black with a light beige head. Thick in the mouth, a little treacle, boozy fumes come back down the mouth, whilst it’s a little sweet there is a real berry flavour, its quite a fruity big impy stout, very nice but a tangy, fruity beast, good beer. Can split at Level 42, thanks to Daniel, 20/10/16. Rich mahogany brown with a khaki head. Nose is meaty, chocolate, toffee, spice, charr. Taste comprises earthy malts, spice, charr, meat, cocoa, toffee, tangy fruits. Medium + body, fine carbonation, light boosty close. Ok ... a sipper but pretty basic for style.

Bottle shared at the level 42. Canary wharf tasting 20/10/2016. Many thanks to Daniel. A reddy mahogany brown coloured pour with lasting mid tan head. Aroma is tangy raspberry, ripple, choc, tangy fruits. Palate the ’s medium sweet, moderate carbonation, creamy. Flavour is composed of nutty chocolates, raspberry jammy fruits, smooth roast. Good stuff.

Bottle thanks to Dirty D. It pours darkest brown with a thick tan head. The aroma is rich, sweet, milk chocolate, rocky road, dried cherry, prune, Black Forest gateaux, earthy roast and wood. The taste is smooth, rich roasted malt, coffee grounds, bitter - sweet, malt loaf, wood, toasty grain and earth, warming alcohol with a dry, coffee - driven finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Not a whole lot of depth. Decent enough.
