Notes from July 2009 Six pack from New Beer. September BBD. I seem to have a thing for this beer. Poured into a pint glass. Big cascade of mocha, tightening up into hard insulation. Huge stiff roasted coffee, vanillan, dark chocolate & alcohol. Taste is all coffee grounds & sweet, if very charred malt. Ashy, & quite watery. Bitterness is green & leafy. Alcohol is apparent, but tolerable. Finish is grainy. Not the most pleasant of things, but it fills the need sometimes.

Bottled. Black colour with a mediumsized beige head. Aroma is espresso coffee with some strong roasted tones. Flavour is coffee, some peppery tones with mild toffee and roast to it too. Smooth and nice, even though the aroma got me worried for a while what kind of coffee bomb this would be.

Bottle at the Hangover. Dark brown colour. Small gold head. Taste is sweet initially then coffee later. Quite subtle though. Bit of vanlilla later. Aroma light coffee, dark malty. Not so challenging but pretty easy drinking.

Bottle shared at GBBF 2015 - London. Pours mostly clear brown with a creamy, tan head. The nose holds rich coffee, light chocolate, some roasted malts. Medium sweet flavour, notes of bittersweet cocoa. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Rich mocha finish. Very tasty gear.

Poured from 12oz bottle in trade brown with a tan head. Aroma is green pepper coffee roasted malt. Taste is pepper coffee chocolate. I am sure this was good in its prime.

Poured into a becher pint glass, the appearance was a sturdy black color with a finger’s worth of eggshell white foamy head that slid off at a decent pace. Sly lace.
The aroma had a hefty dose of milk chocolate melding with some dark roasted malts and intertwining with a little bit of butterscotch and coffee creamer. Some roasted coffee beans trying to present a light balance.
The flavor leaned towards the sweet side slightly with a presentable roastiness sliding in right before the aftertaste. Semi-sticky little finish, somewhat sweet.
The palate was just a touch under medium bodied with a fair sessionable quality about it. Carbonation felt good, seemed to rub right into the grab of the roastiness fairly nice. ABV seemed a bit under than what was projected.
Overall, pretty good sweet stout, a bit more balanced than others of it’s style.
