A wonderful dark old ale. A nice roast malt aroma is carried through in the taste and combines with some berry fruit and chocolate. The finish is smooth and fruity with hoppy bitterness.

Cask at the Hamilton Hall (JDW), Liverpool Street.. Reddish copper with a ring of cream head; malty aroma; richly roasted malt taste, with fruit, nuts and chocolate; smooth with a s weet lingering chocolate finish. Very good.
