We have a confession. Strawberry Hells isn’t really forever. Because we brew this beer with June-ripening, British strawberries, we can only make it in the summer. So while it’s tart, crisp and well rounded, it’s not around for long. We could have called it ‘Strawberry Hells sometimes’ but it didn’t have the same ring to it.

Can. Nose is strawberry, strawberry ice cream, noble hops. Taste is a faint, dry strawberry, strawberry tea leading to, wheat, then a cereal and larger finish. Full mouthfeel. Bland.

Bottle at home in Hackney - sourced from Clapton Craft. Pours hazy gold with a small, fluffy white head. The nose has pale bread, vague citrus notes. Light sweet flavour with more pale bread, a faint hint of watery strawberry, mellow rindy bitterness. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. OK balance in the finish, a little seedy strawberry, some tangerine, more bready pale malts. Not bad.

50cl bottle. Appearance - pale and hazy. Decent head. Nose - the strawberries are there but they’re very faint. Mainly I get malt bag. Taste - still light strawberries but mostly malt again. Palate - light bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry finish. Overall - it’s not very exciting but it is balanced.

Keg tap at the Draft House, Hammersmith. Wheat-yellow and cloudy. Smell of sharp lemon along with some raw malt. Just a hint of the strawberry. The juicy fruit is more apparent in the taste but it’s got a malty taste that’s like chewing on raw hay. Worth trying and more than a novelty beer, but not a great recipe.

On tap at Camden’s Daughter on 1st August 2016. Cloudy straw-coloured with thinning white lacing foam. Floral and citric hop decorating a yeasty aroma. Mildly yeasty, hoppy in-mouth with strawberry fruits. A lightly fruity finish. Medium-bodied with a mouthfeel of fine carbonation. Rated as a novelty beer.
