amber orange pour from can. Fairly malty but strong jala and cilantro flavors. Pretty enjoyable in the proper context.
I mean, it is interesting. Not good interesting, but interesting.

Cask at GBBF 2015 - London. Pours clear copper-gold with a light, frothy topping. The nose holds heavy perfume, green pepper. Light to medium sweet flavour with some pale bread, more green pepper. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Finishes with more green pepper, fairly mellow chill heat. Good stuff, not too hot. Enjoyed it.

Very slightly hazy amber and copper coloured body with a nice, two centimetre tan head that fades modestly. Aroma of chiles, alcohol, a touch of malt and much more chile heat - no hops noticeable in the nose here at all. Medium-bodied; Assertive pungent chile heat hits hard at first then shows some subdued earthi8ness, a hint of floral and grassy complexities and some decent hop notes near the end with the bitterness purely visible. Aftertaste shows some chile heat, a lot of assertive pepper flavours and finishing with a good kick of chile and heat at first that fades to a decent enough beer. Overall, a good chile-based beer with a lot of good, but heavy and strong heat and spice characteristics that persist through the flavour and palate. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Harris Teeter in Falls Church, Virginia on 23-October-2016 for US$1,99 sampled at home in Washington on 06-January-2017.

Got in a BIF from oline73. 12 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 7/22/2016. Pours hazy deep orange/copper color with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big jalapeno pepper, grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, passion fruit, mango, lemon/orange peel, light pine, caramel, toasted bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of jalapeno pepper, juicy citrus/tropical hops, and moderate dark/bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big jalapeno pepper, grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, passion fruit, mango, lemon/orange peel, pine, caramel, toasted bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine/citrus peel bitterness and light pepper spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of jalapeno pepper, grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, passion fruit, mango, lemon/orange peel, pine, caramel, toasted bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of jalapeno pepper, juicy citrus/tropical hops, and moderate dark/bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light dryness from bitter/spiciness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/sticky, and slightly resinous balanced mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 6.9%; with minimal pepper heat as well. Overall this is a very nice pepper IPA! All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of jalapeno pepper, juicy citrus/tropical hops, and moderate dark/bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink, with the minimal pepper spice and heat. Has nice presence of pepper flesh flavors in balance with a really juicy hop profile. A very enjoyable offering.

12oz bottle. There is one way to mess up your Jalapeno IPA, a crappy base IPA. The regular IPA must be a really shabby 90s throwback. Friggin Laurel. Oh wait, two ways, add cilantro. Shab offering. No heat at all. Juicy and earthy. Drinkable, but a really weak offering.
