Citra, Bravo and Centennial hops shine in this classic IPA. Biscuity malts balance hoppy notes of orange grapefruit and pine with a nice dose of bitterness to finish.

Bottle. An unclear orange colored beer with a dense, finger-thick off-white head leaving lacing. Classic piney, resiny aroma with some sweetish malts. Grapefruit, grapes, orange and even more grapefruit. It's full-bodied, soft and nicely carbonated, with a good bitterness. Grapefruit, pine cones, resins and some grass in the flavor, with sweet pale malts in the back. Lasting hop-driven finish. A nice classic IPA with a good bitterness. 180330

Captain Lawrence Brewing Hop Commander IPA 6.5% It is a lovely copper orange in color with a citrus zest (predominantly grapefruit) and papaya hop bouquet. Fairly full bodied with a raspy carbonation. At first you’re hit with a certain sweetness before tons of pith and pine kick in. This is well balanced but has lots of flavor and an impressive aroma. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Undated can > IPA glass A: Pours a big thick beige head atop a pale orange gold with a swirl of fine sediment. Decent retention and patchy lace. S: Lots of green pine/spruce in the aroma along with some sweet tangerine or underripe orange. T: Bitter hop flavors of pine, citrus pith and zest. Resinous woody malt note to finish. M: Medium body with a sticky finish. Average to low carbonation. O: Can is likely pretty old. Good enough but for the price, there are many IPAs that are more distinctive and even have a date stamp on the damn can. Points taken.
