This pale bronze beer is medium in body with intense hop flavor and aroma. Our IPA is brewed in the style of the “west coast” with robust hop character coming from American grown varieties of hops. IPA’s are amongst the most popular craft brewed beers as they have moderate strength and tons of flavor. This is not your Grandfathers beer! 5.9% alcohol by volume, 60 IBUs

Nice slightly hazy copper coloured body with a nice thick, two centimetre tall off-white head. Aroma of pungent and grassy hops with a grapefruit and distinct resiny smell, tucked in with some nice malt and a good bit of discernible alcohol notes. Medium-bodied; Assertive piney and floral hop notes at first with a resiny finish all with a good malt backbone and a very grassy/floral finish. Aftertaste is a bit more well-rounded with the malt coming through a bit more, some alcohol notes as well and a little barnyardie funk as well. Overall, a very well done IPA - not perfect, but a very good beer and a nice offering from Virginia - very nice to have it here in the state. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in Alexandria, Virginia on 23-May-2012 for US$9.99/6pack, sampled at home in Washington on 17-July-2012.

12oz bottle pours a bright orange with some clumpy white head. Nose is mild, citrus, pine, honey. Flavor is better, citrus, pine, honey, flowers. Medium bodied, dry, lightly chalky finish. Good.

Bottle @ Dan’s house, courtesy of arminjewell. Thanks Armin. Golden orange appearance with an off white head. Somewhat spicy, herbal, grassy, light lemon aroma. Herbal, grassy, a bit minty, lemon citrusy, light grapefruity hoppy, earthy, fairly fun beer.

Pours clear gold with a substantial off-white head. Fresh piney citrus hop aroma. The flavor balance is bitter but with a good malt underneath. I’ll have another.

Pizzeria Paradiso, Alexandria tap ($6): Pours a light copper colour with a white head. Aroma is piny hops with a sufficient malt backing. Taste is somewhat bitter. Although this is west coast in character, it is hardly what I would call "west coast" in terms of intensity. It is perfectly drinkable and thankfully, it is not too bitter, so it is rather refreshing. In either case, this is a forgettable IPA.

Tap. Pours a hazy slightly darker golden color with a small white head. Aroma is hops, caramel, touches of other malts. Flavor is a pretty solid hop taste, with touches of caramel and a sweet finish on the palate. Not a bad one.

Served on draft at the brewery on opening day. Pours a clear light orange color. Resiny hop aroma with some citrus notes. Nice leafy hop taste with some brown sugary malt notes. Medium bodied with a sticky texture. 6/4/8/4/14/3.6
Apparently unfiltered now? Though maniac’s the other day was clear, so maybe we had an unfiltered batch completely missed betwixt two filtered batches? A pity. Fresh growler from the brewery. Pours a clear apple-juice color with a thin head. Fresh citrus hop aroma with slight grain and some sweet floral notes. Taste is sweet malts, grapefruit, peach with a finish of bitter resiny hops. Full bodied. Quite good. 7/3/7/4/14/3.5
Another rerate of this one! This is a dry-hopped version... fresh growler from the brewery. Pours a clear amber color with a medium head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma is very hoppy with nice bitter resin and citrus notes. Some toffee malts on the aroma as well. Bitter hoppy taste as well with lots of grapefruit and other fruity notes. Light sweet maltiness in the finish. Medium bodied. 8/3/8/4/15/3.8
