Cask at the White Swan JDW, Solihull as Unity GF Pale. Poured a hazy light golden colour with a lasting frothy white head. The aroma is grainy, light citrus. The flavour is moderate to light bitter, with a fresh, smooth, mineral, light herbal, light citrus, light hop bitter palate. Medium to light bodied with soft carbonation.

[Cask at the Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading.] A hazy pale amber pour with a thin white head; orangey aroma; rather thin in the mouth, but with a crisp citrus taste and a bready body; then a little pithy bitterness to finish. Pleasant.

[Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading as Mad Squirrel Unity.] A hazy straw coloured pour with a tight white head; lemony aroma; lemony taste with a rather thin grainy body; and a refreshing finish. A rather basic, but drinkable, modern session pale ale.

Cask-conditioned at the Robert Fitzharding (JDW), Bedminster 3/4/2024. Pale gold in colour, with a slight, off-white, head. Grassy hops, tropical fruit, sweet rich tea malts, leading to a moderately dry finish. Good.

Cask at Picture House, Stafford (as Mad Squirrel Unity). Pours a cloudy golden brown with a small off-white head and good lacing. The aroma is basically citrus with some herbal hints. In the mouth it is sweet and creamy with flavours of citrus, peach and green hops. Later on there are traces of nettles and spice as well – leading to a dry finish. It’s pleasant and refreshing, but also somewhat bland.

Can from Ocado. Hazy yellow pour with a white head. Nose is citrus, peach, tropical fruits. Bags of citrus in the taste, touch more peach. Quite a refreshing number.
