10.12.2013, 0,5l bottle @ home:
Big fizzy longlasting head. Aroma immediately reveals an overcarbonated beer. The CO2 stings a little in the nose, very neutral, caramel malts, burnt caramel, dark berries, hints of coffee. Taste is slightly neutral, a little sour-ish, caramel malts, burnt caramel, ashtray, grass, harsh sour coffee, dark sugar. Medium bitterness, dry mouthfeel, very overcarbonated. A very rare bad bottle from NØ?

Taste: Fruity, malty, some roasted malt and a dash alcohol.

Bottle, 50cl. A lightly unclear dark chestnut colored beer topped by a dense, two-finger light beige head. The aroma has caramel, some dried fruits, hints of licorice and hops, and a touch of alcohol. Lightly roasted. It’s full-bodied and lighlty warming on the palate, perhaps a bit too carbonated, with flavors of roasted malts, caramel, dried fruits and a good dash of sweetness restrained by an appropriate level of bitterness. Lasting finish. Probably not the most authentic doppelbock I’ve had, but it’s sure pleasant and drinkable. 131014
