In the modern world of brewing there’s a lot of talk about the beers predating the American prohibition era. A time before the point when American lagers were defined by the word “light”. When beers were malty, and full bodied, with a refreshing bitterness. That’s the kind of beer we’ve brewed, but to modest 3,5% ABV (the highest allowed strength of the Swedish “peoples beer” or “folköl”). And we’ve added a modern hop character to it., to get that hoppy nose…
That’s what we call a Modern Pre-Prohibition Style Folköl
Oh… You wonder why it’s called The Leaky Bucket? Well… anyone who has had a couple of folköls knows…

Bottled (from Willy:s Umeå Syd). Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is floral, grassy, some bready and mild sweet grainy notes. Flavour is grassy, grainy, some floral, bready and herbal notes. Balanced and quite pleasant. Easy to drink, and does feel a bit heavier than 3.5 %.

Bottle at hotel room, Sthlm. Clear pale copper colour, small white head, some lace. A bit harsh, bready aroma. Light-bodied. Caramel, harshness, grass, metal. Feels industrial.

Lys brun klar med fingerhøyt hvitt skum. Mild lukt, noe karamell, papp og noe frukt, rosin. Lett. Noe karamell, brød og honning. Lett, kort bitterhet i avslutningen. Mye kullsyre.

33 cl bottle from Hemköp. Clear, golden colour with a medium sized white head. Sweet aroma with faint citrus fruits, slightly toasted malts, grasses and a mineralic note. Taste is light bitter. Light body with a thinner texture and an average carbonation. Finishes dry and bitter with grasses and a mineralic note. Faint citrus fruits. Okay for a ’Folköl’.

Bottle. Creamy white good mostly lasting head. Yellow colour. Light malty and hoppy aroma. Light bitter flavor. Average light bitter finish. Watery palate.

Flaske 330ml fra Coop Enköping. Drukket i hytte 5 på Bredsand Camping 25 Jun 16. Gylden. Ytterst beskjeden kornaroma. Skummet varer 1 sekund. Juiceaktig utseende. Smaken vann. Lett syrlighet dukker opp etter hvert. Håpløs.

330ml Bottle - Golden with a hint of amber. Malty aroma with notes of grass and straw. Malty and bready taste with notes of white bread, straw and corn .
