Dry and sharp with a subtle contribution that’s hard to place. Grassy, vanilla, and a touch medicinal. Nothing quite tastes like woodruff.
Once deeply routed in the cultural landscape of Brandenburg, Berlinerweisse is now invariably drunk mixed with a shot of shockingly sweet, vibrantly coloured, artificially flavoured woodruff syrup. We took the concept, replaced artificial with natural and ended up with a uniquely interesting snapshot of a lost Germanic tradition.

As still WFH and I likle the stats am adding on historical ticks. When the brewery first opened they were giving away samples at a local garden centre, where I tried this. CASK and Kitchen. Easy drinking.

Bottle from Drink? Hebden Bridge. Cloudy pale peachy-amber in colour with no head. Fruity in its nose with citrus here and in its taste, it’s between zesty and sour in the latter respect.

33cl bottle from Beer52.com at 3.8% ABV. A hazy amber pour with no head and a lively fizz in the mouth; some stone fruit on the aroma; and a refreshing lemon and lime taste with a sweet grainy body; then a sourish aftertaste. Light and refreshing.
