22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best before 3/12/2015. Pours crystal clear dark brown color with a 2 finger dense and rocky khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pineapple, light pine, chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toast, light coffee, floral, grass, and floral/roasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of juicy citrus/tropical hops and moderate dark/roasted malt notes; with good strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, light pine, chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toast, light coffee, floral, grass, and floral/roasted earthiness. Fair amount of pine/grassy hop and roast bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, light pine, chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toast, light coffee, and floral/roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity and robustness of juicy citrus/tropical hops and balanced dark/roasted malt flavors; with a great bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very smooth, fairly creamy, and lightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice Black IPA style. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/tropical hops and dark/roasted malt flavors; and very smooth to drink for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle. Pours near black with a gray head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount earthy roasted malts and sweet dark grains with a hint of grassiness. Flavor is a combination of roasted malts, earthy dark grains and some earthy grass and pine notes as well.

Bottle. Clear maroon brown color, fluffy beige head. Huge pine aroma on a background of roast. Taste is mostly pine, but not enough roast for my taste. OK though.

Sample at the Big Tap In on 05/31/2014. Black pour with a medium thin light beige head that recedes quickly to an outer ring. Short strings of lacing. Roast malt, hops and fruit in the nose. Medium-bodied with flavors of piney hops, roast malt and slight fruit. The finish is roasty with a malty aftertaste. Decent overall.
