So if you’re trying a few beers a pilsners a good one to begin with. West Coast Grocery Pilsner 4.5% 18 IBU Soft gold with a decent head of foam and a grainy sweet aroma with a very soft mild herbal hop bouquet. Medium bodied, the initial impression is this is a craft take on a macrolager. Give it a minute and the initial grainy bready sweetness is joined by a touch of fruity hops before more herbal noble peppery notes come through. Clean and enjoyable.

Yellow body with thick white head. Grassy aroma. Malt and light biscuit flavour with a light hop in the finish.

On tap at West Coast Grocery, pours a clear pale golden blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out crisp crackery malt, grassy hops, and biscuity malt. Flavour is quite biting, with crisp grassy hops, biscuity malt, and crisp crackery notes. Crisp and dry, with a solid bite. Very competent stuff and on-point, just perhaps not as crisp and punchy as an authentic Czech pils—but it's solid.
