Having disappeared for all the wrong reasons, it’s official… Porters are back! Our offering is all about chocolate malt with sympathetic hop additions. Pronounced yet elegant, this is truly a food beer. The roasted flavours will complement anything with a degree of caramelisation and charring. From crème brulee to seared scallops, this beer brings the thunder.

Bottle thanks to Fergus at level 42. It pours darkest brown - black with a medium, foamy white head. The aroma is sweet, dried fruits, fruit compote, Eccles cake, plum and jam. The taste is bitter - sweet, plum, jam, fruit compote, fruit cake, dried fruits, cocoa and sweet roast with a short finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Not a huge amount of depth, but overall ok.

Can at home in London - picked up in Castleton. Pours clear, reddish brown with a creamy, tan head. Nice aroma, with moderate roast, some baking cocoa, dried dark fruits. Medium sweet flavour although fairly dry, with more dried fruits, bittersweet chocolate, some earthy bitterness, light ash. Light to medium bodied with average carbonation. Well rounded on the finish, with more cocoa, mellow ash, dried and leathery fruits, faint berries. Really solid overall. There’s a lot of depth packed into this one.
