This hefty Imperial Stout had a brief stint on stainless before being transferred into freshly emptied Heaven Hill’s Bourbon barrels, it was then laid to rest for 12 months. We hand selected one barrel which we felt stood out from the rest, and that liquid is what you're currently holding in your hands. This beer encompasses all of the characteristics we love in a Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout - rich dark chocolate, hints of coffee, mild charred oak and vanilla, along with subtle notes of bourbon and just enough warmth to give you a big ol' hug from the inside. A perfect sipper for the season.

Dark brown with a light brown head. The aroma is quite toasty, light vanilla, mellow chocolate. On the palate, there's a whack of alcohol up front, the body seems a touch thin, and then there's some chocolate. Lots of bourbon throughout. Boozy, woody finish. Would prefer more sugar and body for better balance.

355 ml can. Pours black with little head. Aromas of oak, straight bourbon, and sharp roasted malts. Flavors follow same though emphasis on oaky alcohol.

330mL can, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out loads of bourbon barrels upfront, with gentle vanilla, and some nice heat. Flavour is rich and complex, with lots of decadent bourbon barrels, gentle vanilla, some molasses, and a nice alcoholic kick. Really smooth and nice expression of the bourbon. Beautifully done—an excellent foundation for their others this year.

12oz (thx, Clay!) @ Alex's. Appearance: brown with beige head. Aroma: a lot of bourbon and vanilla. Taste: very sweet, not very thick, a lot of chocolate and American oak. It has very noticeable notes of bourbon booze. Overall: good one, but I believe last year one was much better. It was thicker, more smooth, and less boozy. So kind of had a better integration.

Mooch tasting courtesy of Sergey, can
Black colour, low carbonation, small head. Evident aroma of vanilla/bourbon, and spirit. Good body strength, moderately sweet, not cloying, also because the spirit is strong; dark chocolate, some liquorice, Bourbon. Very good.
