Bottle at Black Christmas March 2022
Black colour. Thick, deep chocolate character; it's oily, sweet, with almonds, vanilla, and mild peppermint. Not my favorite profile, but it's well made.

Poured from bottle at Black Xmas. Dregs: murky black with minimal tan head. Chocolate and peppermint. Thick and rich. Enjoyable, but gimmicky.

On tap at Structures, pours black with a small, muddy dark brown head. Aroma is dominated by the peppermint—all other elements take a backseat unfortunately. There's some barrel, some dark fruits and caramel, but the “hint of peppermint”, as per the description, is more like a dominating element. Flavour has a lot of peppermint and dark fruits upfront. The palate is what ruins this though, with a very felt-like, muddy, gritty, chalky palate that is just not pleasant. This is very disappointing and not even all that drinkable. Really a shame -- glad I wasn't stuck with a big expensive bottle of this.
