A traditional Stout; the English Phoenix and Goldings hops provide a smooth bitterness as well as subtle hints of treacle in the aroma.

Sampled @ GBBF day 2. Very dark brown to black color, decent sized off-white head. Smell and taste malts, earthy, lightly ash, dark malts, slightly roast. Average body and carbonation. Hmm pretty average.

Cask gravity at the 2014 GBBF. Opaque dark caramel black coloured pour with a steadfast cream coloured head. Aroma is berry, hedgerow fruit and soft roast and some choc. Flavour is tart berry, raspberry, dark choc, light chalk. Palate is smooth and slightly mikly. Really like this.

Cask @ City Arms, Manchester. Very dark with a red hue and a small creamy off-white head. It’s a milky stout with a full roasted taste. Has a light aroma. At The Rising Sun in Mossley in 2024 it looked better but was more floral in design.
