Our 26th anniversary Imperial Porter was aged in bourbon barrels and dry spiced with Theo's cocoa nibs, revealing hints of vanilla and chocolate. Pomegranate molasses and cranberries complement the robust flavour with a hint of fruit and just enough tart to make you smile.

On Tap at Bier:Thirty Black with a dense lasting sticky light tan head and clumpy lacing. A sturdy looking beer. Lots of soft sweet chocolate in the aroma. Bordering on "candy-bar" Lots of chocolaty sweetness in the flavors as well. Some vanilla but not much of the other "throw-ins" on this years batch. Rich sweet and luxurious.

Oddball beer. Lots of cranberry that would do better more subtle. Pours black with good head and lacing. Bitter sour finish. Light roast. Bottle.

Sampled from a bottle. Strange aroma of iron and blood; raw meat. Flavor has some cocoa, a little fruit, and light whiskey. Flavor is good but something went wrong with the aroma.

Bomber courtesy of winter santa 14/15. Thank you robertDale! Pours very dark brown with a creamy mocha head that leaves some sparse trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is malty and slightly fruity with roasted malts, burnt caramel, moist wood, sweetened dark roast coffee, dark chocolate, pomegranate, dates, black pepper corns and hints of alcohol. Taste is slightly sweet, bitter, tiny sour, malty and fruity with roasted malts, burnt caramel, dark bread, moist wood, grenadine, espresso coffee, bitter chocolate, moist soil and lemon zest. Mouthfeel is soft, round, tart, tiny roasted astringent and medium to full bodied. Finish is slightly sweet, bitter and slightly sour with roasted malts, burnt caramel, raisins, grenadine, dark roast coffee, dark chocolate, moist soil, hay and lemon zest. Not a huge fan... Bit too sour without having any really redeeming qualities... Fun to try though... --- Beer merged from original tick of Black Butte XXVI on 13 Feb 2015 at 23:35 - Score: 7. Original review text: Not a huge fan of the grenadine sourness but goes down easily enough...

22oz bottle picked up at the state store
Black with a small tan head, some lacing. Aroma of dark malts, dark fruit, leather and vanilla. Flavors of roasted malts, dark fruit, leather with a bitter finish
This years version wasn’t a hit for me.

22 oz bottle, split about 3 ways. Poured a very dark brown, almost pitch black color with a medium sized tan head. Aroma was dark chocolate, vanilla, some figs and other dried fruits. Light bourbon notes. Flavor was dark chocolate, dark fruit, touch of cranberries. Very flavorful, but the flavor does not overwhelm. Lots of subtlities in this one. Girlfriend unexpectedly liked it. Bottle said it was best consumed after a day 6 months from now. Woops. Thought it was pretty excellent right now. Alcohol is hidden in a wonderful, flavorful brew.

Draft - Liquor and tons of tobacco, finishing with molasses. Jet black with a decent beige head. Lots of tobacco, roast and sweet molasses. Fresh and big, very nice.

Sample at Kurtkeller 019: Choco-tastic 02 on 12/27/2014. This beer is a brownish-black color with a medium foamy tan head that recedes gradually. Patchy lacing on the glass. Aroma of dark chocolate, malt and berries. Full-bodied with flavors of chocolate malt, oaky vanilla and subtle berry. The finish is bourbon, malt and chocolate-covered berries. Pretty good all around.
