16oz (thx, Chris S.!) @ Ryan's. Appearance: very dark copper with a beige head. Aroma: very weird, kinda sweet, malty, and a bit grassy. Taste: nice body, sweet, not really a stout base, it's kinda thick, but not stoutly thick due to, probably, not enough amount of roasted malts. Overall: ok, kinda imperial red ale, not really a stout mentioned in the description.

473mL can, pours a red-tinged black with a small beige head. Aroma smells like cookies, with some cocoa, lactose and a touch of vanilla Flavour is sweet and vanilla-y, with plenty of vanilla extract character, cocoa, lactose and a hint of roast to provide support. There's a slight metallic character here that impinges on the adjunct expression. I've never had a red velvet cookie, but I can't imagine the metallic character is desirable. It's not bad, but the flavour complexity is not totally there for me, and the metallic notes indicate some flaws.

Poured from 473mL can. Dark mahogany brown with small beige head. Toasted malt, feint wood chip character, mild chocolate and vanilla. Bit of an odd combo. It's okay.
