Can from The Gull, North Vancouver
Black colour, with large, creamy, brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, and very light aged cheese rind (cellar nolds). Soft mouthfeel; the dark malts flavour is good, it has a earthy touch, and dark fruits, spices, some hot alcohol in the finish.
Very good, straight forward, stout.

12oz @ Alex's. Appearance: very dark brown with a beige head. It had something very similar to mucus at the bottom of the can Aroma: grainy, dark malts, a little bit of sweetness. Taste: along the same lines, low to moderately sweet, some roasty notes, nice body. Overall: good one.

Poured from 355mL can. Black with medium tan head. Mild roast malt, oats, burnt sugars, simple, balanced and enjoyable.

Very dark brown. Chewy, figgy, fudgey. On the palate it's that plus burnt fruity sugars. In the burnt / dark fruit vein. I can dig it.

355 ml can. Pours a thick black with moderate tan head. Aromas of vanilla, molasses, chocolate syrup and roasted malts. Flavors of Nutella, creamy oats and roasted malts. Full, creamy and nice enough but needs to be more belligerent wrt flavors IMHO. Maybe a good base for a barrel…

On tap at Dageraad, pours jet black with a medium brown head. Aroma brings out medium roast, hearty oats, and a touch of burnt sugars. Flavour is on the sweeter side, with medium roast, hearty oats, and some sugars that nicely balance. Very sturdy palate; the 12% is contained nicely. Nothing extraordinary but it's well-made, and I appreciate the lack of adjuncts. Good stuff.
