Our 26th anniversary Imperial Porter was aged in bourbon barrels and dry spiced with Theo's cocoa nibs, revealing hints of vanilla and chocolate. Pomegranate molasses and cranberries complement the robust flavour with a hint of fruit and just enough tart to make you smile.

Served in tulip glass at TJ’s. Very nice fruity malt aroma. Inky and creamy with a trace of head and soft carbonation. Chocolate with tart undertones, pleasantly sweet tart finish.

Enjoyed on tap at Paddy Longs while celebrating a friends birthday. I did enjoy this one, nice mixture of chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, and smoke, with the emphasis on vanilla, which I enjoy. Good stuff.

Brown, with tan head. Alcoholic lightly woody nose.Vinous palate, alcohol, wood & light roast. Far too vinous to be enjoyable. The first one (XX) was wonderful, but have being going downhill every year.

Bomber from Wegman’s Lake Manassas, opened 11/12/14. Pours a dark reddish brown with a large creamy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, dark fruit, mild whiskey. The taste is tart fruits, chocolate, cocoa, mild whiskey and roasted malt. Medium bodied, low carbonation, lingering fruit, mild booze.

Bottle, picked this up several weeks ago and got around to it on Turkey Day. Shared with my parents, this served as our cranberry dish. Nose is sweet and boozy, lots of roast, cocoa, and fruity. It’s one of those beers where I wish I hadn’t read the description right before tasting... I swear I can itemize each ingredient. The tartness must be the pomegranate, but it could be the cranberry... it works very well with the cocoa and barrel notes. This is seriously good. My favorite Black Butte release so far.

Bottle @ home via the rotbox. Pours a black appearance with a medium sized brown head. Chocolate pralines, pecans, a bit fruity, vanilla, and light smoke in the aroma. Mouth feel is a little gooey. Lots of anise, some berries, rich dark chocolate, anise, and a bit of vanilla. Pretty high boost. Ok but not worth the dough.

650 ml bottle. Pours a very dark brown with light yellow/tan head that settles quickly. Aromas of dry dark chocolate, licorice, nuts, heavily roasted malts and faint bourbon. Initial oily bourbon flavors dissipate quickly leaving sugary roasted malts and light vanilla. Sour black coffee finish. Interesting and odd. Expecting more for the price. But, maybe this one needs to sit awhile longer.
