Our 26th anniversary Imperial Porter was aged in bourbon barrels and dry spiced with Theo's cocoa nibs, revealing hints of vanilla and chocolate. Pomegranate molasses and cranberries complement the robust flavour with a hint of fruit and just enough tart to make you smile.

Bottle from The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours very dark brown with a creamy tan head. Aroma of chocolate, treacle, bacon?, fruit. Bourbon is faint. Med body, but seems a bit thin. Flavor seems to have smoke, lots of chocolate, tart fruit, and a little wood/vanilla. This is pretty tasty stuff. Not at all over done like so many BAs. Finishes rather dry and mixed bitter. With balancing dark treacle. Very complicated stuff here.

It is still a great looking brew with that near pitch black darkness and ample head of tan foam.

The smell is not unlike previous editions with loads of cocoa, plenty of bourbon, some roast, and something else.that fruity non goodness.

Thick and rich body, this is the ONLY anniversary Black Butte that didn’t tickle my fancy right off the bat.
