This blend was built from a nearly four-year-old blend of Beastmaster aged in 40-year-old European Sherry barrels for nearly four years, Modem Tones aged in Armagnac barrels for 2.5 years, and Monsters' Park aged in Domestic Brandy for about 2.75 years.
This beer is meant to showcase the magic of non-bourbon oak barrels. It's an homage to old-world spirit flavors - imagine lots of Smoking jackets, libraries of leather-bound books, and old-world flavor. It's insanely rich and complex.

22oz (thx, Ben M. D.!) @ Ryan's.
Aroma: heavy, dark fruits, sherry
Taste: along the same lines, balanced sweetness and fruitiness with some oxidation added by sherry barrels.
Overall: nice one.

Dark brown. This comes across with a bit of chaos, an intense barley wine (not imperial stout, really, there's no roast) with dark fruits, intense sugars, a bit of vibrant acidity, a touch of chocolate, raisiny, some alcohol. Very complex. There's all that armagnac, sherry, yeah those barrels are intense, and bring a lot of vinous richness to the malty depths of the base. Fantastic stuff - I don't imagine this concept has been attempted all that many times and there are few people on this planet who could do it this well.

Slightly roasty and heavy with some earthiness, stingy woody oakiness, vinous notes, sherry, brandy and raisins. A bit unbalanced and heavy.

June 19, 2025 (9/4/9/4/17=4.3): Poured from 650mL bottle. Near black with minimal beige head. Very balanced sherry, armagnac, brandy barrels, not quite as full bodied as I remember from the tap, but still excellent balance (just a 0.1 lower score).
Oct 21, 2024 (9/4/9/4/18=4.4): Poured from the tap @ MT Lomaland. Black with small light tan head. Amazing showcase of the barrels. Lots of sherry with gentle brandy in the background. Mild molasses underneath. Excellent.

On tap at Modern Times - Lomaland, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma has a wonderful spirit blend, with cognac, sherry, and brandy blending nicely, with some dark sugars and general integrated booziness. Flavour is very refined and elegant, with tons of sherry and cognac, maybe a bit of brandy, with dark sugars — largely fermented out — and very low roast. Great malt base and wonderful barrel blend. Lovely.
