A traditional full bodied stout. It is almost bkack in colour, with roasted coffee flavours from the dark malts used, and a clean hop bitterness.

500ml bottle from Hill Island market stall, Durham. Pours black-brown with a beige foam head leaving lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee and chocolate. Flavour is roast malt with smokey notes, chocolate, berry fruity and some bitterness. Smoothish mouthfeel, medium bodied, soft to medium carbonation, dry smokey roast bitter finish. Nicely drinkable.

Cask at the brewery - Black in colour. Roasted malt, plain chocolate and some slightly smoky notes in the aroma. Plain chocolate, roasted malt and some hints of liquorice and smoked malt in the taste.
