DOUBLE IPA.
“Make and Break” refers to the single circuit ignition of the marine engine that revolutionized the Atlantic fishing industry in the early 1900’s. Produced locally by the Lunenburg Foundry (Lunenburg) and Acadia Gas Engines Ltd. (Bridgewater), these small, gasoline-powered engines freed fishermen from the burden of rowing oars or sails, allowing them to power their vessels to the local fishing grounds at a time of their choosing.
Identified by their large flywheel, and admired for their simplicity, the Make and Break engine could be easily repaired by a clever fisherman, no matter where he was at sea. Some say that the elastic band around the bottom of a fisherman’s oil pants was used more than once to repair a broken trigger spring.
Amazing what simplicity combined with ingenuity can create. Kind of like our Make and Break Double IPA – hop forward with a little extra horsepower at 7.5% ABV. We hope it ignites your thirst for a well-crafted ale.
