Amber golden colour, white head. Malty aroma, hops, tropical fruit and citrus. Bitter flavour, hops and citrus. Finish hops and grapefruit. I quite like this one! Maybe it’s the drinking of many Golden Ales and Bitters - styles I wasn’t too familiar with before - during this trip, but this is a more than welcome intermezzo. Nice!

Cask at The Bell, Waltham St Lawrence. Apparently the result of a swap between Vale and Atom - and great to find it this far from home, as it’s an excellent US-style IPA. Golden amber with a ring of cream head; tropical fruit aroma; full fruity taste with some sharp grapefruit thrown in; giving a dry, lasting bitterness. Well worth seeking out.
