That time of year when the day seems to fade away. Drifting further into the darkness with each passing day. Volume 1 - Foreign Stout - Pours black with licorice, espresso bean, molasses, and black cardamom notes that give way to a feeling of self loathing, burnt opportunities and smoked relationships.

Old rating from 01-07-15 - 330ml bottle brought back from the States by my wife. Poured at home in Jersey, it's jet black with a off white foamy head. Aromas & tastes of coffee, liquorice, caramel, smoke, hints of spice & malt. Medium body. Moderate bitter finish. Excellent

Pours pitch black with a coffee colored head, thin and bubbly. Aroma of mocha, espresso beans. Taste has dark roasted coffee beans, mocha, slightly milky. Palate has a lingering malty note. Good.

(Bottle) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of coffee, black rye bread, dark chocolate, sweet liquorice, raisins and a touch of soy sauce. Malty, roasted taste with espresso, black rye bread, cacao, dried fruit (raisins, prunes), sweet liquorice, soy sauce and a balanced coffee bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Really tasty and well made foreign stout. Very nice.

Godt håndverk, men den blir kanskje litt i meste laget, nesten overveldende.

Ash, chocolate malt, and hay aroma. Black with moderate brown head. Mildly sweet chocolate malt, and moderately bitter ash and dry hay flavor. Good body. Decent.

Bbe, 09/24/19, lots of coffee notes, nearly soy sauce but ends up more roasty than all.

Snifter at Homebrewstuff. Dark black pour, small creamy beige cap, rings of lacing. Nice full roasty bitterness throughout the aroma and taste, creamy, silky feel. Not too strong, but still best to sip.

On tap black pour with a dense light beige head big dark chocolate malt aroma. More dark roast in the flavors. A little smoke and cold campfire. A little dry for a foreign/extra but nice flavors and finish. Would not have guessed 8.5% either.
