Cask - Fresh sweet grapefruit and sweet malts. Clear gold with a bubbly head. Fleshy grapefruit and a light balanced bitterness. Very well done.

Cask at GBBF 2014. It pours clear golden with no head. The nose is peppery, straw, barnyard, lemon, grapefruit peel and grain. The taste is bitter, lemon peel, grapefruit, straw, grassy and pepper with a dry, spicy finish. Light-medium body, fine carbonation and oily mouth-feel. Good crisp bitterness. Crisp and crushable.

16oz can pours a clear orange with some fluffy, lacing white head. Nose is solid, some grass, some orange peel, a hint of soap, some lemon-lime soda, mild pine, lightly floral too. Flavor follows along, mild malt, a flick of metal, grass, orange, more lemon-lime soda, a bit of tangerine, some unripened stone fruit. Clean finish. Honestly, I was expecting more. It’s a good beer. Perfect for a 16oz can, fairly easy drinker, good summer beer. But it’s not a session beer, since it’s over 5%. I also expected a bit more flavor.

16 oz can poured into a Belgian snifter. Thanks to Richard from BBA for the can. Slightly hazy straw to resiny yellow with just under a finger of off-white head. Very tiny bits of sediment. Aromas of grapefruit citrus, lemon/lime, floral hops. Tastes of grapefruit citrus, lemon/lime, floral hops, light pine. Medium body with a semi-dry finish. Juicy mouthfeel, medium carbonation. Pretty good session ale.

Grapefruit peel, malt underneath. Clear yellow, medium head. Light body, lilly and lemon zest. Dandelion, malt, unmalted barley, and grass on the back end.Tons of complexity, none of the weight, pretty much nails this new style. Surprising malt presence.
