Bottle at home in garden, 2nd August 14. A lot of these Belgians taste the same, this was nice and reasonable for the price.

Bottle from Waitrose. Whilst you’re out buying one, also buy a copy of Willie’s Chocolate Bible. Nip back home and turn to page 224 and make the Orange, Almond, Ginger and Bitter Chocolate Cake. Drink the beer with a piece of the cake. Outstanding.

33cl bottle from Waitrose. Hazy gold. lasting white head. It has some esters on the aroma, but some spicy Belgian blond hop aroma too. Spicy Belgian blond. Typical of the style but done well. Soft and simple but spicy hoppy finish which is attractive.

Aroma: Juicy orange and mandarin with a slightly metallic note.

Appearance: Hazy golden body with a medium white head. Lively carbonation. Light lacing.

Taste: Orange, mango, yeast and white pepper. Almost sour finish.

Palate: Medium body with an oily texture. Fizzy carbonation.

Overall: Not a patch on other Belgian beers I’ve tried but this is very good value.
