Once again, we partner with Barrington Coffee Roasters to brew Night & Day. In order to reach the higher gravity and fuller-body of this massive imperial stout we employ a reiterated mash technique that allows us to create an unusually rich, high gravity, 100% malt wort. Pouring raven-black with a persistent creamy pale-brown head, Night & Day is seductive with aromatics of roasted dark malt, espresso, caramel, cocoa powder, dark fruit, charred toast, and subtle sweet vanilla. At a soul-warming ABV of 11.5%, this bold, imperial stout drinks velvety smooth with mellow bitterness, silky carbonation, and balanced flavors of dark roast coffee, chocolate, figs, affogato and black cherry.

Bottle shared by Mike at the Barleywine tasting. Light golden color decent off white head. This one really doesn’t work for me. The coffee comes off somewhat peppery and there needs to be more sweet malt to balance it better.

Bottleshare thanks to Leighton. Opaque dark brown beer, good yellow - tan head. Smooth and slightly viscous palate. Mild fine carbonation. Rich and smooth dark malts, little dry. Mildly roasty coffee. Spice. Good creamy malt sweetness to the fore. Light dry finish. Nice contrast of roast and creamy sweetness. Hides the abv well.

Bottle split at #arch thanks to Leighton, 19/06/15. Light black with a decent tan covering. Nose is earthy cocoa, coffee grinds, charr, toffee, light spice. Taste comprises chocolate, light roast, green pepper, molasses, toffee fudge. Medium + bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Solid enough impy but doesn’t come close to their hopshit !

750ml bottle pours a very murky black with a ring of beige head. Nose has quite a bit of coffee, some molasses, malty, some toast, a little berry jam lurking, some chocolate. Flavor is heavier on the coffee, which is nice, nutty, lightly sweet, brown sugar, molasses, chocolate, mild cakey. Full bodied, lightly sweet finish. Solid.
