Tasting at Leighton’s Flat. Thanks to our host for this one. Opaque dark brown beer, big fluffy pale tan head. Palate is very airy and semi dry. Good fine carbonation. Airy dark malts, touch of roast. Trace of lactose. Roast bitterness, some coffee. More dark malt cream and light and bitter floralness. Light dry finish. Bitterish linger. Decent.

Bottle shared in London. Picked up at Kris Wines. Pours deep brown with a big, foamy beige head. Moderate roasted malts on the nose, some dry chocolate, dark fruits. Light-medium sweet flavor with some scorched earth bitterness, baking cocoa, leathery fruits, mellow roast, charred wood. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Well balanced on the finish with further cocoa, roast, earth, burnt leaves, dried fruits. Nicely rounded, well balanced. Great stuff.
