Slight copper coloured body with a thin, one centimetre tall, just off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt, some light earth, a touch of fruit and a small amount of hops. Medium-bodied; Mild malt flavour with caramel definitely noticeable, some toffee and a nuttiness coupled with a touch of light english/german hops. Aftertaste shows a little nutty characteristics, some earthy malt, touches of sweetness followed by a watery flavour. Overall, a decent beer, but a bit too light and showing too much malt/nuts/earth with not enough complexity throughout. Nice to try, but not really worth a trip in a suitcase. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Merchant’s in Dearborn, Michigan on 02-August-2013 for US$1.99 sampled two days later in Grosse Ile, Michigan on 04-August-2013.

Growler shared at the RBSG Grand Tasting. Poured a hazy gold with a thin white head that dissipated quickly to the edges. Aroma was sweet with grains and cereal and some underlying hops both grassy and piney. Flavor was similar and the grass hops were a bit more present and melded nicely with the sweet grains.

On tap at the brewery. Pours golden with a white head. Aroma is somewhat fruity with pale malts. Flavor has lots of biscuity pale malts and fruit flavors, particularly strawberry and some hoppy citrus notes, somewhat sweet, with an herbal quality. Nice lacing. A nice take on a steam beer; I liked this more once I got farther into the glass.
