This is a Saison. It has its roots in a long tradition of Belgian farmhouse ales. The mixture of Pale and Vienna malts combine with three different English and German hops to perfectly compliment the earthy, peppery and spicy yeast flavours.

Cask at Ring of Bells, Taunton. Sampled December 2016. Pours unclear gold with a beige cap. Aroma: spicy yeasty, some pepper. Taste: light sweet, more spicy yeast vibes, citrus, earthy, grassy hops. Light to medium body with soft carbonation. Not a style I associate with cask dispense but overall pretty decent.

Bottle ordered from the brewery. Aroma is citrusy and vinous. Clear amber gold. Slightly opaque. Thin translucent white head. Medium bitter with a sour citrus and vinous. Underlying malts. The bitterness really takes on a quinine edge. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Average-fizzy carbonation. Long dry slightly astringent finish. A bit of a rough take on the style for me. No sherbert and old school UK malts. Inoffensive.

500ml bottle from, I think, Rise Bakery, Bridport. Polishing off the remnants from our Dorset break. Decent saison, esp for 4%. Gently spiced creamy sweetness. Crisp bitter finish. Nice.

17/7/2019. Bottle shared at the South West tour bottle share. Bought at Darts Farm near Topsham, Devon. Pours dark gold with a small frothy white head. Aroma of light citrus, yeast, banana, malt and hops. Moderate sweetness and medium bitterness. Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation. Tasty, though little by way of aroma.

(Cask at Southampton Arms, Gospel Oak, London, 24 Nov 2016) Hazy golden colour with frothy, white head. Fruity, spicy nose with peaches, bread, hay and spicy yeast. Malty, fruity taste with notes of bread, hay, grapefruit, spicy yeast and a balanced floral bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Fresh and spicy saison. Quite nice.

500ml bottle from the Brewery Online Shop. Pours clear golden with a thin white head. Aromas of lemon curd, faint white pepper, light bready malt. Taste has a hint of varnish, spice, light floral tones. Spicy linger, bit too much of the varnish though.

Cask at Ealing beer festival 2016, Ealing, London. A hazy golden coloured pour with a medium white head on top. Hoppy, floral, lemon aroma. Tastes similar, hoppy, floral, lemon, yeasty. Quite refreshing on a hot sunny day.
