This is a Saison. It has its roots in a long tradition of Belgian farmhouse ales. The mixture of Pale and Vienna malts combine with three different English and German hops to perfectly compliment the earthy, peppery and spicy yeast flavours.

Cask at the Nags Head - Reading. Pours clear gold with a frothy white head. Slight saison yeast in the nose, some dry wheat, hay, pale grains. Light-medium sweet flavor with more pale grains and wheat, light husk, plastic, wheat, lemon peel. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Moderate sweetness to finish, more wheat, dry yeast, melon, rindy lemon. So so.

Bottle on holiday in Lyme Regis. Hazy gold beer, fluffy white head. Palate is airy and semi dry, modest carbonation. A little green apple. Sweetish floral things. Trace of citrus. Light finish. Clunky, too much apple.

Bottle from Darts Farm near Exeter. Hazy golden-amber with a huge craggy white head. Creamy banana throughout with pepper, ginger and orange promises much but it’s all ruined by a harsh dry metallic bitterness. Really too much metal. Not a fan of this.

Gravity cask at the Cambridge Winter Ales Festival 2015. Orange-gold, cloudy and fairly flat. Aroma of yeast, spice, with a bit of herb and pepper. Mostly sweet taste with a bitter finish. Massive spicy/bready hits. Aftertaste is a bit too bitter for my liking. Other than that it is an impressive beer for this ABV.

Bottle courtesy of Peter Fowler, Shoulder of Mutton, Wantage, Oxon, (cheers Peter!) consumed at home Thursday 10th July 2014 Hazy gold with a white head, soft carbonation, nice slightly tingly aroma, a streaky citrus vein. This is a slow burner a beer that creeps up on you, it gets better, I like it, in fact I rather like this brewery. A very pleasant interpretation of a saison. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov15 3.8
