An American style pale ale, this brew is hopped four times using plentiful quantities of Cascade and Columbus hops. The flavor is balanced by a subtle maltiness obtained from five varieties of malted barley and a slight fruitiness, to produce a classic beer in the style of the Pacific Northwest. A clean crisp ale with distinctive hop aroma.

From bottle, 3A Papsoes New Zealand vs US blind tasting. Pours slight hazy yellow/orange with a lacing white head. Light peachy and mild citrusy hops aroma. Fruity hoppy aroma. Very subdued malt base. Solid and growing fresh hoppy bitterness into the finish.

Bottle from Park Lane Liquor in Lancaster, CA. The beer pours a hazy yellow-amber color with a dense, thin head that burns off slowly. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Citrusy hops aroma. Medium-bodied with an astringent hops flavor along with subtle fruit and malt. The finish is moderately bitter but not particularly flavorful. Slight malt and herb aftertaste. Average all around.

Bottled as Pale Ale with a Byzantine mosaic style label (gold halo behind the mascot’s head). Same 5.5%. Decent hoppy aroma; little indication of malt. Light golden amber color with a white head that quickly flattened. Starts with hop, quickly balanced by malt, then the hop seems to take precedence. Medium+ mouthfeel. The finish is dry and bitter. Really good. Balanced in the middle, but not at the finish.

Bottle. The hops are the dominant feature of this APA, as they should be. Pleasant aroma of citrus, specifically grapefruit and orange. Notes of resin and pine. Light gold pour with white head the sticks around. Flavor is mostly bitter with a slight sweet backbone. Moderate carbonation. Watery texture so much so it reminds me of grapefruit juice. Bitter finish.

This pours a huge head that completely fills the glass. As the head breaks into chunky large bubbles and slips into the glass, a medium yellow beer appears below. Decent hop aroma that has a citric tartness which accompanies it. Some mustiness as well. The flavor is balanced between sweet and bitter, but delivered with a flat dry palate and thin dry finish. Thanks to Wohlfs for this one!
