Bottle. It’s a clear, sparkling dark golden to amber colored beer topped by a small, dense, light beige head. The aroma is candy-caramel-ish with some piney hints and grass. Grains. It’s medium to thin on the palate, with a pleasant carbonation level. Sweet caramel flavor with some grass and pine cones. Caramel-candy-sweet finish with a piney touch and some bitterness. This is almost soda-like, and sure not very good. Well, it’s flawless, but the flavors are far from Christmasy in my book, and not very good I think. 141205

Flaske 0,33l fra dagligvarebutikk i Tromsø. Drukket 23 Nov 13 som matøl på RV124. Mørk brun. Nesten ikke skum. Prikklacing. Søt maltaroma. Smaken er dominert av malt. Litt tørr. Direkte uspennende øl. KI=3

330ml at Blå Rock Café, 4.5 % abv, described as an Yuletide ale. Off-white head reduced to a patchy surface. Deep brown coloured body. Mid sweet aromas of pale and dark malts. Flavours of caramel and earthy malts joined by dark fruits and a touch of spices. Malt-fruity ending. Soft carbonated. Medium minus bodied. Satisfying(Tromsø 08.11.2013).

For a "klasse D" (= too low ABV) Christmas brew this is not too bad. Reddish brown colour, good head, mild spices in the aroma. Very well balanced light malty sweetness vs. hoppy dryness. But of course, the inevitable watery mouthfeel of a "klasse D" Christmas brew is there. Lacks "punch" - it''s not a brew that will kick off knife-fights, like an "Olde Norse" Christmas brew should(!)
