Cask at GBBF’17, day one, 08/08/17 as 'Vanilla Oatmeal'. Black with a well presented tan head that dissipates edgeward in time. Nose is chocolate, vanilla, light spice, toffee, dark fruit rinds. Taste comprises light roast load, cocoa powder, nice vanilla vein pulsing through this one without getting too sweet, toffee, light charr. Medium body, soft carbonation, light drying close. Decent cask stout ... plenty of flavor for the ABV.

4 oz. sample at El Bait Shop, De Monies, Iowa. Black appearance. Aroma of toasted malt, coffee, & weak chocolate. Flavor of roasted malt, oats, coffee, and chocolate. Lighter side of medium body, mild creamy texture. Nicely balanced, a tad light but about what it should be overall.

Cask at The Great British Beer Festival 2017, Olympia, London. A black coloured pour with a thin beige head on top. Roasty, malty, chocolate aroma. Tastes roasty, malty, chocolate, quite thin and slightly sweet. Not a great deal going on here but it is fine.

Cask at GBBF. Pours jet black with no head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee and vanilla. Taste is a chocolate and vanilla sweet hit that lingers on with some coffee and molasses. Nice carbonation. Not too bad.

Vanilla edition. Cask gravity at GBBF. It pours black with a small beige head. The aroma is earthy, toasty, coffee grounds, light vanilla and coffee cake. The taste is smooth, toasty, cocoa, rock road, coffee grounds, light vanilla, charred wood and ash with a soft finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Pretty OK, but no game changer.

From the tap at FireLake Grill House & Cocktail Bar, Minneapolis, MN. Pours black, with some cappuccino foam, unfortunately very cold. Had to "hug it" for minutes. Aroma, consequently, was not much. A little toasted malts. Body was medium, with some stickiness. Taste was moderately sweet, with low bitterness, and a bittersweet finish given by the oatmeal. Nice beer.
