This stout has been aged in Kilkerran whisky barrels from Glengoyne Distillery for 6 months before being hand bottled and aged for a further 6 weeks. The stout is dark with deep ruby highlights and a warming aroma of honeyed whisky. Sweet, rich fruitcake flavours dominate the palate with a hint of peat smoke and a light finish.

Bottle at home. Pours black, nose is chocolate, whisky, fruity, light funk, taste is a little flat, chewy toffee and chocolate, light whisky.

Bottle 750ml. w. swing top @ RBESG 14 Grand Tasting at Moncada Brewery, Unit 1 Middle Row, Kensal Town, Greater London, England W10 5AT. [ As Fyne Ales Kilkerran Stout ].Dark brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to light beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, coffee, wood, oak, peat. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, barrel, peat, whisky. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20140809]

Bottle shared at the RBESG 2014, grand tasting 09/08/2014. Mahogany brown / caramel coloured pour with a halo of cream head. Aroma is big smoke malt, phenols, peat, caramel and wood. Flavour is composed of wood, sausage, caramel, smoked malt, peat wood, caramel. Palate is medium light bodies with highish carbonation. Some mineral and lingering smoked.

Bottle @ RBESG Grand Tasting. Pours a black color with a small longlasting off-white head. Has a roasted malty woody chocolate aroma with smoky hints. Roasted malty woody smoky whisky flavor. Has a roasted malty smoky woody chocolate finish.

Bottle shared at RBESG ’14 Grand Tasting, Moncada Brewery, thanks to Niall for this swing top mo-fo 09/08/14. Dark mahogany brown with a moderate tan covering. Nose is dark fruits, BA effect, raisens, cocoa rub, light spice, dark toffee. Taste comprises earthy roast, subtle BA notes, light spice, cocoa powder, dark fruit, whisky notes. Medium + body, fine carbonation, tangy wood notes in the close. Ok subtle BA impy but ultimately lacks any great depth.

Bottle shared during the RBESG 2014 London Grand Tasting - Moncada Brewery. Pours clear, deep brown with a frothy, beige head. The nose holds burnt wood, peat. Medium sweet flavor with up-front peat, some bitter earth, dry chocolate, light alcohol, bitter charred wood. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Warming finish, highly tannic, with further dry peat character. OK.
