Porter beer's name refers to the London dock-workers drinking thick, brown beer to retrieve their energy and relax after a long day of work. Darker malts like munich and crystal give the Porter's sweet, rich taste while black malt is responsible for the velvety dark colour. It's traditionally made with upper fermentation just as the original Porter beers from London. The name 'cingulus' originates from the roman legionary's unique military equipment worn as a belt and also the black belt of the piarist monks.

With its mild coffee and chocolate flavour and scent this dark porter captivates your senses immediately. The flavour is dominated by the contrast of the malt's sweetness and the hops' and roasted coffee's bitterness. Cingulus Porter's smooth and creamy foam evokes the taste of it's classic english predecessors. It perfectly accompanies courses with beef or sweet flavours. During winter it can be the perfect base for mulled beer spiced up with chocolate, cinnamon and cream - no lady can resist it!

1l pet bottle. . There was no foam, the beer was cola-brownish-black. The aroma was also cola-like, a little raisiny, gummy. A little roasted malty-earthy-coffee. Quite carbonated. It opens sweetly, cola-like, bitter, medium-bodied. Later, the coffee and roasted flavors come to the fore. It wasn't bad, but not outstanding either. I liked the one-liter packaging :)
***
Habja nem volt, a sör kólás-barnás-fekete. Illata is kólás, kicsit mazsolás, gumicukros. Kicsit pörkölt málátás-földes-kávés. Eléggé szénsavas. Édesen, kólásan, kesernyésen nyit, közepesen testes. Később jócskán előtérbe kerül a kávésság, a pörkölt ízek. Nem volt rossz, de kiemelkedő sem. Tetszett az egy literes kiszerelés :)

Bottle. Brown color, with medium sized beige head, disappearing quite fast. Aroma is roasted malts, some coffee. Taste is malty, roasted, again some coffee notes, maybe licorice. A bit too sweet, some more bitterness would help to enjoy it better. Medium body, quite ok porter.

Sampled from 0.5 l bottle at 'Legfelsobb Beerosag'. Clear, very dark reddish brown to black. Sweetish-malty, quite roasty aroma of dark chocolate, licorice and some coffee. Quite sweet, malty, moderately roasty taste of dark chocolate, licorice and coffee, followed by a short, moderately roasty-bitter, slightly earthy finish. Medium body, slightly oily and moderately effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Nice!
