Dry oatmeal Stout in which whole damsons from Cumbria's Lyth Valley have been steeped.
Flavours of dark chocolate and coffee are married with a tart plum fruitiness to produce a warming, rich, malty Stout with a difference.

Nice light brown creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is mild sour-ish roasted, hay, roasted grain, grass, minerals, burnt caramel, paper, puffed rice. Taste is slightly dry and harsh mineraly, hay, soil, metal tank, roasted grain, wet grass, burnt caramel. Medium bitterness, metallic and very watery mouthfeel. Crap!

Sample on tap at What’s Brewing Beer Festival, Stavanger. ABV 4.5%. Black colour, tan head. Aroma of roast malts, coffee, hints of seaside / salt water. Can’t detect the damsons. In the flavour, however, the damsons are present with a certain fruity acidity. Also dry roasty notes, coffee and a slightly salty finish.

500ml bottle bought in Ambleside. Reddish magohany with a milk coffee coloured head; intense aroma of sour fruit and roasted coffee beans; amooth and creamy with a dry oaty body, some fruit - but not obviously damson; crisp and dry finish with chocolate malt body. An excellent fruit stout.
